No License or fee is required. Please see the end of this ReadMe file for other information. CleanBAT System Cleaner is designed around the basic concept of just cleaning the files no longer wanted or needed in Windows2000/XP. It is extremely flexible and will allow the user to clean any or all of the basic system areas as well as additional, user-defined, file storage areas that may no longer be needed. This application uses several basic techniques all wrapped up into one easy-to-use interface. It incorporates Windows Disk Cleanup (included with 2000/XP for cleaning well known areas of Windows where files may no longer be needed), user defined preferences for areas not always used by windows (areas the user may store their own "temporary" files in) and a Batch File creation utility to tie all of those operations together. This application is very easy to use and has proven to free up as much as 750MB of space on a hard drive (750 MB is what we experienced in testing - that number could be higher or lower depending on how cluttered a system may be) Uses for this software include(but are not limited to): *Remove and clean all Temp files (This includes Temporary internet files) *Assist in compressing files not often used by the user/Windows *Creates files to schedule routine Maintenance for users PC *Freeing up drive space for faster and smoother operation of your PC AND MUCH MORE..... ============SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS================================== Operating System - Windows 2000/Windows XP (Includes SP2) Memory - Minimum 64MB Hard Disk Space - 6MB ================================================================= Please Note: An extensive amount of work and effort went into the development of this program. ANY DAMAGE CAUSED BY THIS APPLICATION IS THE SOLE RESPONSIBILTY OF THE USER. THIS APPLICATION IS DESIGNED TO GIVE THE USER MAXIMUM FLEXIBILTY IN CLEANING A PC. BECAUSE OF THIS PLEASE BE CAREFUL USING THIS APPLICATION. Before starting, select a Task Number. This number will allow you to have up to 99 different cleaning options. If you are just beginning with the CleanBAT application it is suggested you leave the Task Number at 99 until you are more comfortable. *The top section is designed to set the options for Windows Disk Cleanup. Select each option for the area of Windows you would like to have cleaned. If you are unsure of what each option does, simply hold your mouse cursor over each option for an explanation. In most cases, selecting all options in this section should be safe, but always double check to make sure the options selected are what you would like to have cleaned. Although Windows version of Disk Cleanup is fairly thorough it does not always clean everything so the bottom section is necessary to ensure you get everything cleaned out. *The bottom section helps you create a program called a Batch Script. This step is essential in ensuring all remaining files that are not needed or wanted are completely removed. In this step select all of the options you want to include. You can also add your own Additional Locations by clicking the button labeled: "Additional Locations To Clean" NOTE: All files in the additional locations you choose will be deleted. If you are unsure of what you want deleted then select the option: "Prompt Me Before Cleaning Each File" to have the system confirm with you that the file(s) should be deleted. Once you have completed this section and you are sure you have selected all the options you want then click: "Apply Settings". After Applying the settings you want you can click the "Show Me" button and view the Batch Script file that is created by CleanBAT. These fields can also be edited by hand if you are comfortable creating and editing Batch Files. Now select one of the Cleaning buttons. You can click Clean Now or Clean Later. Clean Now - This option will prompt you to confirm you are ready to clean your system and then it will save all of your options to a file named CBATXXXX.bat in the program installation location. Where XXXX is equal to the Task Number. After the save operation is complete the program will start cleaning. Clean Later - This option allows you to save the file created and run it at a later time. If you choose Clean Later, the file created will be saved in the Programs installation location as CBATXXXX.bat. The XXXX is the Task Number listed at the top of the CleanBAT application window. No matter which option you choose the file is saved and can be scheduled , through Task Scheduler, to clean your system as part of a scheduled maintenance routine. The file is saved, by default, to the applications installation location. In certain situations, this application will not be able to clean some areas of Windows due to security settings or files being in use. It may be best to start your PC in Safe Mode as Administrator to be able to fully clean all the areas you would like cleaned. Although this application is offered without warranty or support, I will be happy to answer any questions you have or help with any problems you may encounter.
